All Star Names are recorded in a database and backed up frequently. Star Names are a matter of public record. A hard copy is stored securely so that your Star Name will be yours forever.

There are zillions of stars out there, a large set of stars, and you can register a Star Name for free.
-Then you can use the star map to locate your star or, if you have an advanced telescope you can program in the stellar coordinates and look at your star. 
-Also, for a small fee, you can even register a star that is visible to the naked eye without using a telescope. 
-You can record your star name at no cost. 
-You can also order extras, such as a customized certificate style for a small fee. 
-And, if you are not completely satisfied so that you can receive an immediate refund of any extra fees so your star can be returned to the pool for someone else to claim it.

If you have any problems with buying a Name Star or you are not completely satisfied, contact the Webmaster and include the Star Number or any other information that you have about the star.

The registration will be deleted and free the star up so another may register it. So, if you purchased any extras, your payment will be refunded without question.
